I recently bought a 99 Corvette and drove it home through a rainstorm. When I got home I discovered a lot of water on the passenger side of the car -- carpet was saturated and there was water under the seat. In checking under the dash, I did note that water was dripping through from somewhere. Anyone had this problem and any ideas what caused this? Know of any solutions so this doesn't reoccur. Thanks for your help.
Do a search on the forum for plugged udders. I have never had a problem like you described, but I seem to remember reading with plugged udders, the water gets redirected to the inside. I believe there are three on the car.
its your udders, they are clogged...it is going to ruin your AC motor if you dont get it fixed...Very simple fix.
I had this happen TWICE in the first year (2004) I bought my car. Drove through some bad rain and 'viola' passenger side was wet...coming from up under the dash. plugged tubes.
You need to get it clean and dry. First time, I fried my computer box. Second time, I was able to get to a dealer and watch them lift the car and clean out the tube. Saw a small, pea-sized pebble drop out.
some advice, get soem rubber gloves. I cleaned my udders after learning that they can cause an issue, and pulled out some really gross crap. Old leaves, dirt turned to mud, some of it had stayed moist in there and, well, just not fun stuff to have all over your hands.

Read my whole post before you do anything:
Clogged udder on passenger side for sure. It is located on the firewall just aft of the upper block area. It is only about 4 inches long, points toward the front of the car and then down. Take it off and clean it then cut the opening bigger by about a factor of four. When you take it off be prepared for a gush of water. This udder drains the cowl area and the water on your floorboard is seeping from the firewall into the cabin. Take out the toeboard on the pass side and cover your electronics with plastic and towels before you pull the udder as you might get a flood from the firewall cavity, mine did!
You also have other and longer udders on the drivers side for the ac, etc. Check those while you are at it!
Many of the C5's have water leak problems on the side windows. There is a mod that has been done on the blow out clip in the middle of the top affixed to the roof on each side). And many times the weather strip on the rear top corner is folded wrong (it has a fold in it and is a little counterintuitive <== looks like it should go this way when it really should go that way).
Mine leaked the one time I had to leave it out in the rain. I got the car used (second owner) so I dont know what went on before I got it but I do see what looks like silicone applied under the blow out clips, so that may have been done.
I dont really use it in the rain and park inside so I havent messed with it yet.
If you search, you will find a lot of posts on it, and I believe its in the sticky.
So I have a 99 vert. 1st Vette, 1st Vert.
My power windows don't seat correctly when closing door unless I am inside and drop the windows and put them up again. Otherwise the top back corner of the window lays on the outside edge of vert top. Therefore allowing for wind noise and major leakage. Are these windows supposed to drop a bit and go back up automatically when opening and closing door?
