I am a citizen of the great state of Colorado and I wondeer why your friend would ever keep his Z in the garage for 1/2 the year. The weather in Denver is usually pretty mild and the winters are very tolerable. I keep insurance on my Vettes all year long. Just Thursday it was 70 degrees and a beautiful Vette cruising day. As a matter of fact, its only snowed maybe 6 times this year, no more than 8".

1.) MagChloride is badass awful on Vette alloys and will get on the components under the car regardless if it's dry. My aluminum tunnel plate from my '97, which never saw winter wet roads, was testament to that. I cringe when I see the Vettes out on the roads that haven't had a good rain washing. Best of luck to you. Perhaps you clean it after each run, including the chassis. More power to you.
2.) LEO loves laser in CO and laser jammers are illegal here.
3.) I have a lead foot and became much too comfortable driving at excessive speed.... I became addicted and as with any addiction it takes more and more to get the same rush and guardrails aren't soft. I don't cruise.... I DRIVE!!! HARD! Ask any of the forum members that have been on drives with me (MountainPrairie section) and they'll attest to it. Last time out with them I pissed off a local LEO at Red Rocks for "spinning my tires." Whatever

4.) I knew my job was in jeopardy and didn't want the debt hanging over my head.
5.) I lost the passion for playing/tweaking/modding the car; I've got other things to do with my time.
6.) I got tired of giving other people heart attacks doing 2nd gear sideways slides (first thing after cranking the car, traction control was turned OFF).
7.) Saving up for the next generation Camaro if I keep my job. This one I'll pay for outright! But only if I can jack up the rear end with wide tires Starsky and Hutch style.... yes, I'm a redneck at heart!! (Should have seen my '71 Beetle with 235-60s on the rear!)
8.) My best friend Terry has wanted a Vette for a long time and the opportunity came up for him to own one - and she's got a great pedigree.
I miss her, sure, but I still wouldn't have her on the roads even though the weather's been beautiful. It's a sin to run it on the MagChloride and with all the body pitting sand (in my opinion... it just doesn't seem right to do it to her).
I am enjoying snowboarding at breakneck speed in Vail and Beaver Creek as a substitute.... and my little '91 Civic hatchback blasts past the high horsepower, high center of gravity P.O.S. SUVs on the snowy highways and I get that same adrenaline rush at 65 on the snow as I did at 165 on dry pavement.
It's funny, though.... I get more looks from the LEOs in the Civic

Cheers, mates!!! Have fun Terry! And get that thing tuned to the right altitude.... you'll get another 30-50 HP out of her.
