Default Chrome fuel rails????

Has anyone ever tried to chrome your stock fuel rails. Iv asked this question on other plastic pieces and was told that they cant stand the chrome process, meaning the heat s to great. that being said Iv seen most every after market fuel rail out there except one that is the same look as stock but only chrome. any one have any insight or ideas,,,,, they are welcome.

I have researched the same thing. Chroming plastic is a special process the only place I found was Creative Engine Covers and Bill said it would be extremely expensive and would not be coast effective. Thats why I have carbon fiber instead of chrome on my fuel rails covers. Every thing else they can chrome.

Chrome the stock fuel rail? Yes.

But it sounds more like you are asking about the rail covers...and if so, simple answer is no. At least not in a true chrome-plated process. It's not a heat issue so much as the cover material, and the flexibility of it.
Only certain types of rigid plastics take well to the plating process, and the covers ain't one of them.

There are some coatings which could be applied to simulate the look of chrome, but even with perfect surface prep (the grainy plastic finish would have to get sanded and smoothed out), I still think you'd find the results rather disappointing.

Your only real hope of doing this would be to make a sheetmetal overlay, and have it chromed. Due to the size of the parts involved, it won't be cheap, I wouldn't be surprised to see them run over a grand. Way back in the day, I think Design Specialties may have offered something exactly like this, but I do not recall what they cost. (They are long out of business).

This place should be able to do the covers with the spray on chrome... not sure what the cost would be though:
