Default Seat belt extender

I don't know how many of you have the same problem we have but we're getting frustrated with having to fight with the seat belt to get it hooked into the clamp buried down along side the console between the seat and the console.

We're not overweight or anything, it's just a pain that the seat belt clamp is so short and hard to get to.

I've searched all the local auto parts stores, MidAmerica, and Ebay and have found very little that fits the bill. There is one item on ebay but it's too long (9")

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=

We think that it only needs to be about 4-5" long. Otherwise you're going to be sitting on it when you get in if it's too long.

Has anyone found what we're looking for?

Thanks

Check at a local chevy dealer. Its a safety issue and I was given one after I bought my 04. I then ordered another from their parts department and that was a freebe also. They came in 2 lengths (I think)6" or 9". After my shoulder surgery they have really helped. I keep it on and use it every time I drive. Its locked away for the weather, but if you want a part # I can get it later.

Default Found one I used in DD

Found one in car bag!
Its about 9" total.
I put a twist in it and leave it pluged it at the center hump.
The black plastic part is about 5"

A great idea, but has it passed all safety tests ? If it did I'm sure car dealers would be selling it or have some involvement with it. Do some research on it before, it's your life you're talking about.

They do have to provide some way so large Customers can fasten their seat belts or they wouldn't meet federal requirements.

From the owner's manual:

Safety Belt Extender
If the vehicle’s safety belt will fasten around you, you
should use it.
But if a safety belt isn’t long enough to fasten, your
dealer will order you an extender. It’s free. When you go
in to order it, take the heaviest coat you will wear, so
the extender will be long enough for you. The extender
will be just for you, and just for the seat in your
vehicle that you choose. Don’t let someone else use it,
and use it only for the seat it is made to fit. To wear
it, just attach it to the regular safety belt.

Called the local Pontiac dealer right down the road....had one in stock picked it up (free) on the way home. Clicked it in to the original clamp on the driver's side and works pretty good.

Might get another one for the wife' side (no she's not heavy...5'6", 130lbs- and beautiful)
