When I went into the Marine Corps in 1967, my Dad told me that if I got a tattoo, not to bother coming home. I told my son the same thing when he went into the Marine Corps and my daughter when she went off to college. It didn't work on my son because he now has several tattoos. It did work for my daughter, who never got one. Secretly I'd always wanted a Marine Corps tattoo, but never wanted to hurt my parents. At the age of 58, I finally decided that I was old enough to get a tattoo and if my parents think less of me, then so-be-it. I decided to get my tattoo on the anniversary date of the day I was wounded, which was September 16th. Admittedly, I didn't sleep much the night before and I didn't tell my wife. Long story short, I got the tattoo and came home and showed my wife, who thought it was a sticker. I liked it so much that I went out the following year and got a tattoo of the Purple Heart medal on the inside of my leg. To be honest, I thought I'd never have the nerve to get a tattoo, but I did and I'm very proud of them.
Semper Fi Devil Dog! Great story....... I wish I would have waited but it is too late now, I am addicted to the ink. There are some great looking tats on here, thanks everyone for sharing.
