Default Double Din ?

Has anyone put in a DD console and used a single Din radio with a pocket? Curious if it has been done - any tips or tricks?

Thanks,

Steve

Not to hijack and I think this will work here:

Along with that question has anyone done a good bezel mod for SINGLE DIN. So it looks like it belongs instead of just a filler plate?

Maybe a SINGLE DIN bezel mod could be an offering from those doing DOUBLE DIN mods? (And great DD ones by the way.)

Edit: Incidentally Steve if the question is because you have a DD bezel and want to use a single DIN radio why not sell and trade the DD bezel on the forum for some money to you and get the 1.5 DIN as stock back? Probably bring you 250-300.

Post this in the audio section. There are some pretty slick single din bezels out there. I think it's VRUMVRUM (sp) that does them.

IMO if you're gonna put in a DD console, you should put in a DD headunit. DD units far exceed SD units IMHO.

I do agree with you 100%, however DD's also far exceed $'s at this point!

Maybe look at DD head units without NAV. They are less cost.

I have considered a non-Nav version, and it is definitely an option since i already have a Garmin for the vette that I am more than pleased with. The main reason for the question is that I have a DD that Im going to use and one of two single head-units available. The plan is to put in a DD down the road, but right now my plate is full with a DD + complete system to put in my truck, and a major 4000 mile family move to Alaska in the very near future - so I want to put the DD in now and then upgrade the head-unit later.

BTW - Minitech I think you asked a good question - a better designed single Din is an excellent idea, something a little smoother and more integrated, Im sure some of the DD guys could come up with something!
