Default Jake Skull info?

Can someone give me a brief history on the "Jake Skull" emblem?
I first thought it apllied to any modded vette but now think it has more to do with the C6 than the C5.

I only ask because I am interested in some small chrome or polished ss fender badges for my 99 coupe (mildly modded). I woulod shy away from this search if it was a nonapplicable styling choice!

Jake skull started with the C5R racing team and a picture on the wall of the garage I beleive. It was then put on the C6R race team car, with the flags making the eyes and nose of the skull.

As far as I know, no public vette has came with any jake emblem at all, but I could be wrong on that. I think you are fine putting them on your C5 if you want. it is more in the C6 crowd, just because it is on the C6R car, but it is now more of a Vette racing emblem. I actually am playing with an idea to incorporate the Jake in my C3 when I do the interior (lookig at putting in C5 sport seats, and having an Jake skull inlaid in leather in the headrest. Black seats, with red accents and a red skull to match th exterior of the car).

Thanks for the info.....seems as though I remember someone having some fender badges made or something.

It is now on the air intake on the ZR1. It is the mascot of Corvette Racing. So therefore, it is appropriate to be placed on any Corvette. Many C5 owners want to get the C5 Logo instead of the C6.

Here is mine:

I have removed the C6R under Jake However.

In the interest of staying with the "correct" period, ie. C5 Jake is different than C6 Jake, you may want to use the C5 image on a C5 vette. Of course, it is a personal choice and you are free to do as you wish.
Best wishes.

I didn't know there was a difference between a C5R skull and C6R skull.

I guess I have the C6R skulls then on my B-Pillars. Looks sinister

It didnt start with the C5R, it started with the C6R.

You can go here to find out how the C6R Jake skull came about.

Didn't the Jake skull appear in the move "The Punisher"? Maybe that's where it started.

Wander through here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...-got-jake.html

Several people were playing with creating generation specific Jakes.

I have done a little research on this and found that the Jake sticker has a copyright and it belongs to GM.

The difference is the emblem used on the skull. The C6 one has the C6 emblem, the C5 one has the C5 emblem.

aye, first appeared as Jake on the c6 car, but concept was started in the C5 2004 race, after the team had put skulls on things. Not tech. a Jake skull, but was the begining of the idea.
