Default Lug Nut Covers Gone, HELP!

So my lug nut covers lasted all of 5 days before some little MFer made off with 2 of 'em. :mad :mad :mad

What exactly is the point of stealing lug nut covers? They're not even chrome. Man that really pisses me off. Anyway, does anyone know where I can find replacements that match the 02 Z06 wheels?

You'll be my hero! :seeya

Sometimes the caps come off simply because they were not tightened properly during dealer delivery checkout.

Anyway, dealer's parts department should have them; they come five in a bag. Hold on to the extras. May need them, if some whistle-dick removes a tire and doesn't retighten the caps again. But I'd suspect you'll be checking them for that in the future.

Lost 3 the second day. Checked the rest and found them loose. Dealer's parts dept. Gave me a bag of replacements, and I thanked them. Now I check them all the time as plastic moves alot with temp changes.
Be good to yourself.

They are also step one in stealing the wheels. Keep your eyes on the car for a while.

Yeah, that was my first thought. I checked the rest and can't move any of them with my bare hands. Which means that either the dealer didn't put them on and I somehow missed them being gone (doubtful), or some "whistle-dick" came along with a tool, took off the covers and was thrawrted by the lug nuts.

So is this part specific to the '02 Z or do all vettes come with the same covers? The reason I ask this is this is the only thing I can find that looks like it:
http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?d...&pf%5Fid=41999

and it just says 00-02. The people at the dealer have apparently forgotten how to work their telephones, who knows how long it will be until I can get some from them. And it's too far to drive there. This is one of those little things that just eats at ya.

Actually, there's a technical bulletin that covers these falling off and they should be covered by your warranty.

If the dealer option is too much of a hassle, the ones from Ecklers look like stock but I wouldn't chance it. Give a call to Bob, part manager for supporting vendor Fichtner Chevy. He will send you a bag of five with a Forum discount. Here is a link to Ken Fichtner news letter.

Many of us rely on Bob for stray parts. Super service and completely reliable.
