getting ready to order new wheels. 17x9.5's front and 18x10.5's in the rear for my 01 zo6. search is down so i can't search for this...
i like the tire to be a little wider than the wheel, just by a little bit. i was planning on getting 275/40/17 for the front and 305/35/18 for the rear. is this the correct setup. i read on jegs.com that the nitto 555r are rated for about 15,000 miles for regular driving (which is fine for the rears)
should i get the regular nitto 555 vs the nitto 555R tires for the front so they will last longer?
also, anyone have pics of these tires on the size wheels i described?
thanks

305's on a 10.5" rim, the tire will be wider than the rim. I run 295's on my 10.5" rim and 265's on my 9.5" rim, they are pretty much flush with the rim
If your thinking of drag radials, just get them in the back and get the normal 555's on the front. A drag radial has a softer side wall to give traction, on the front they will cause undesirable handling.
I have had 555's all the way around(not DR's). They were a pretty good tire, and may even go back to them in the future.
There are the standard 555s street, the 555R IIs road course, and the 555 Drag radials. The standards will get a little better mileage than the 555R IIs but they don't stick as well. The 555R IIs in 305 work fine on the 10.5 rims, not sure about the Drag radials. Some people have road coursed the Drag radials and said they worked OK and I've ran the 555R IIs on a track car and was happy with them. Needless to say I didn't get 15K out of them on the track.
Nitto 555R II's (drag radial) will be fine in 305/35-18's on a factory Z06 wheel. Shagster runs them and he has absolutely no issues what so ever with the size and them fitting on his car. The +1 rear's are rather common. Once I need new tires for my factory wheels, I will be buying these in +1 size all the way around. So don't worry about them fitting they will look awesome.... PM me if you have any other questions.
