Cleaning a Vortex air filter
Is there anything special you have to do--special product, etc?
Can I just run it under hot water and let it dry thoroughly?

I took mine out, vaccuumed it out, cleaned it with warm water and screwed it back in. Worked fine.

I believe the replaceable filter is very similar to the K&N, and I would clean it like a K&N, including a light application of the proper oil. It will work without the oil - but it comes from the manufacturer impregated with oil, so it works properly with the oil.
Be careful not to over oil the filter, too much and the oil will get all over the MAF and will cause runnability issues.

They sell a K&N kit to clean it and it comes with the oil.

Holy S***.
I just cleaned it in hot soapy water and I can't believe how much sediment was left in the bottom of the bucket.
I've definitely got to do this more often.
