Column Lock
I replaced the failed relay with the CLB and the " Column Lock " message went away. It took about a hour to replace.
I ordered mine from Corvettes of Houston ..
Follow the instructions on the LS1 site. You should find a link on this site.
And you should be ready to go.
Thanks,
Mike
I do know that for the last recall, GM removed the pin from the steering wheel so the steering wheel can never lock again under any conditions. What these means is that even with no key in the ignition you can turn the steering wheel.
thanks in advance

I think the same thing is happening to me. CLB is on the way but I believe I'm going to have to deal with the fuel shutoff issue.
I haven't driven the car (03Z) in about two weeks. Went to take it out today, was met with a dead battery. I put a charge on the battery and got it started only to get the Service Column Lock message. I turned the car off and the column locked. To my amazement, I cranked the car back up and the steering wheel unlocked. I went for a drive for about an hour with no problems.
I pullled the car back in the garage and let it sit for an hour or so. I went back out to tinker with it and when I went to pull it out into the driveway, it would barely crank and I was still getting the Service Column Lock message. I turned the car off, did what I had to do in the drive and it barely cranked again. That's when I noticed what seemed like the engine was cutting out, i.e. fuel shutoff. I had to feather the throttle just to reverse the car the few feet back into the garage.
What a PITA!
You can also hear the column lock engaging when the ignition is turned on whenthe CLB isn't installed. It is sorta a whirling sounde of a solonoid pushing a pinion. (which is exactly what's happening)
If I understand correctly, installing the CLB will also take care of, i.e. disable the fuel shut off, correct?
I bought the car used and I think it's safe to assume I still have the original battery, side post AC Delco Pro 550CCA (75-5YR). So, a replacement is in order and it will be the first time I've replaced the battery.
Looks like I have a lot of work to do next weekend.
Am I looking at a tow? Or what will allow me to get past the shut off? Is there a way to reset it or is the tune reprogram my only option at this point?
HELP...I'm a little confused right now. TIA

They were all historical and I cleared them.
After doing some searching on the forums, I slammed this under the hood to replace the OEM AC Delco that was registering about 9.3V at last check...

So, after what you said yesterday...

Thanks!
