I was just surfing today to www.c5registry.com to check out the site. Now I just found out that to register your car you must pay a membership fee......why?!
Together with a buddy of mine we developed the C1, C2 and C3 registries with the same aim to share information and create a platform where owners can get in touch and the registration is FREE of charge.
Also as a non US member you need to pay the highest fee of USD 80....another big why!? As a non US member you benefit the least from it.
Perhaps I miss the point, but can somebody explain me (who is perhaps a member) what the benefit of this C5 registry is and what a member gets back for its money!?
Note: I like and support every registry, but I cannot get the point on this one.
I was just checking out that C5 registry the other day. Was gungho to join until finding out you have to pay. I have been on other forums that suggest a donation at times, and which members are more then happy to pay, but never any wanting the money up front.

A number of years ago I was a member of the C5 registry - but never did see much of a benefit from it. Dropped it after a year. IMO, the National Corvette Museum is a much better organization to support.

I have been a member since 1998. The benefits come if you attend various events thru out the USA and Europe as the Registry has special set ups at these events. Two years ago they went to France and had their Vettes shipped over. They have their own parking spot on the Hill at Carlisle and a dinner Friday night where GM and a few other Vendors show up and give a speech about what is happening in the future. I've met tand had dinner with the plant manager and several of the engineers. I've met Callaway at this dinner. They have two gathering at the Museum each year where GM pulls out the RED Carpet for the Registry. They have a web site for communication, tech info and sales. Yes there is a fee for membership which includes entry to events and a Quarterly Magazine.
I have never looked at the Registry as a waste of money but as a membership in a unique club.
my 2 cents.
mmm......so basically the C5reg is just a C5 club. However it still does not make sense a non US members has the highest fee.
Within our Dutch Corvette club we aply 3 fee grades, 1) local member 2) european member 3) international / sponsor member. 1 = highest fee and 2+3 = lowest, because you can only be happy with an international member since you can't offer them all the things you offer a local one.
In short....i guess the C5 registry "club" misses some opportunities.

Same here.
The benefit goes to the two guys who own/run the club. Too much free stuff on the internet to waste $35 a year here.
