Default Drivers side door controls

I have a problem that I am hoping someone on here can help me with. My drivers side door controls work sometimes with the door closed. But they always work when my door is at full open. I pulled off the door panel to see if anything looked out of place. It didn't. I then pulled off the boot that goes between the door and the body to inspect the wires there. Everything looked good. I then forgot to plug the boot back in the door. When I shut the door everything worked. I drove around like this for a few days and it never missed a beat. What is the deal? It seems to work when the wires are under a bit of tension which they see when the door is at full open. This also seems to be linked to the "traction control failure, reduced engine power" warning lights that many people get. When my controls don't work, this message follows within a minute of the controls going out. I thought it was the G201 ground that is located at the front of the door sill since this is the only ground close to the door in question. I checked the connectors and everything was clean as a whistle. I am at the end of my rope here trying to figure this out. Please someone help

Pull the rubber boot again between the door. Pull the wire harness from inside the dash area. Inspect it again. You will see an aluminum colored wire with a clear sheath. Odds are the sheath is pulled away from the wire exposing a bit of the bare wire. I put liquid electric tape on mine in that area and solved the problem.

You have a wire in that loom that is exposed. Read Bill Curlees sticky in the tech section, there's pics with it.
