Default Memory Seats?

OK I've been having an issue with my 02 Z06. The driver seat does not always return to the correct position. It stops short and seems to have a dead spot. Is there something that I can replace that will fix this?

Thanks

Did you "program" the position into memory?

Uhh (not to be a smart ***) yea-ah. That is why I have the problem. Have a programmed location and a seat that is not cooperative.

The seat stops short and I'll have to push the memory botton a few more times and it finally gets there. It's just anoying.

Thanks Foxman86!

Also is there a module that controls these functions that can be replaced? Or do you think that this is a electric motor issue? or niether and it's just a short.

Mine seems to act up in the same places everytime.

My seat will go to the right location, but only if the door has been locked and unlocked with the fob, I do think there is something in the book about that, but I don't drive my car enough to bother with it.

I am sure you guys are doing this already but I just have to ask, you are using Fob 1 when setting memory 1 and Fob 2 when setting memory 2 correct?

My 03Z does the same thing. I had posted about the problem a while back and don't remember anyone offering an immediate solution. Most people recommended what use2vtec posted, set it and forget it.

I do notice that if I drive the car back to back, it seems to work. But, if there is a day or more gap between drives, forget it, I have to hit the button once or twice to get it back into position.

It is a PITA !

Sounds like your memory seat has Alzheimer's.

Sort of the same problem here. Before I spurt out my problem, I want to make sure that it is. Are the seats suppose to move to the setting when the ignition is turned on? The seat will move some days to the memory setting I made....and then some days it won't. It's never had a problem when returning when shutting the car off.

Same here.

Then it also has a problem returning to the programmed position.

Has a few "DEAD" spots, almost like my cell phone service.

I had an issue with a dead zone in mine as well, but it was the driver that the seat was trying to kill! Once in a while, when I would get into the car, it would proceed to try and drive my knees thru the dashboard. Four annoying trips to the dealership later, after they couldn't reproduce it (therefore there was no problem...), the mechanic went to drive it back out of the shop and it finally did it to him. They replaced the computer controller and I never had a problem with the seat again (aside from the square cable snapping off so the seat didn't move at all, but I fixed that myself).

I've had the same intermittent not going to set memory position problem. It always seems to correct itself after I manually(with the electric adjuster) put it where I want it. Then I drive the car and at the first stop I hit the memory button and it goes where it's supposed to. It's weird?

The only thing I can suggest is to make sure there isn't anything under the seat that may block the movement. One time I did find that my gun was in the way(I'm a cop so it's ok). I have also found rags or other items like ball caps will get blown down the back and under the seat from the back partition area if you have the window(s) down.

Good luck.

There is a computer that controls it, but it could be a short somewhere bc of the dead spots that we hit, hard to say though.

but for me the drivers side window started to act up around the same time the my seat did. I cant control the drivers side window but all the controls on the door work but that one, it comes and goes

Do you know a part number for this computer/seat controler?

Default Same

Same problem. I have both memory buttons set to the same position. I get in close the door, stick the key in the ignition and the seat starts to move to the wrong position until I hit the memory button. Have tired programming the memory and fobs several time. Same thing every time. Shut the door, key in, seat goes wherever it wants and I have to hit the memory button to keep from getting scrunched. Very annoying.
