Default Hello.. New here, need help and advise

Well my name is Carlos and im 23 years old... Im in search for a new car.. not literally but a used nice car.. Ive grown up all my life with blue running tru my veins being a ford guy and owning acouple of mustangs my current being a 5.0... Im looking for a new car and some im looking at are Cobra's and such but for some reason the 01-04(?) Z06 catch my eye and ive done some research on them and seem to like them more and more...
Well i have my eye on a few right now and all under 20k which are perfect.. my question is if upgrades are expensive, maintance, and such... and how often do they need all that? are they reliable? from transmission to engine is there any weak links that i might see in the future and need to fix or fail on me? Im really looking foward to (I can believe im saying this) a Chevy Corvette z06 owner soon ...
if i do get one my first upgrades would be a full exhaust and lower it.. but how much am I looking at that? Ive spend thousands and thousands of dollars on my car's to mod so im wondering how much of a difference im looking at... im a mod freak lol..
thanks once again !

I suggest you take a look at some of the sponsors first off. You can always hit the classifieds. CAIs are same prices as most other cars. Headers/ catted or non catted X pipe can be pricey. These cars don't need a catback unless you just want it for sound. They sound good with stock catback and its lighter then all the others and you wont gain any hp with the others. Lowering these cars is free. They seem to be very reliable and if you do get a Check Engine light you can check the codes yourself instead of paying to have someone scan. There is somewhat a corvette tax on a lot of parts but i think you can be a smart buyer about most mods. I'm in the market for one just waiting for the right deal. Bang for buck in all around performance i don't think there is a car out there that can beat a Z in stock form for the price. Good luck.

DO IT! I am 24 just went from a 350z in october to a 02 z06. Best choice I ever made!!!
These cars are amazing for the price! As for modding if you keep an eye out for deals here or ls1 tech you can save lots of money!

My Z06 was my first Chevy too. I grew up on Ford and had several 5.0s. Z06 is on a whole other level. There is just no comparison. Yeah, most mods will cost more, but you need less. And it is reliable. Just buy one. You'll be happy with it.

You can lower the car a small amount just by turning bolts. No need to buy parts. And full exhaust does help, it's just the cat-back that does not need to be changed as the stock one flows well.
