I recently read a thread where someone was asking which short-throw shifter is the best. I was also wondering which one is the best as far as how short the shift is and smoothness. So heres the poll. Let me know if I left any good ones out.

I had to vote for the C6 shifter. Granted it isn't as short as the others per se... it's also not notchy and doesn't require the forearm of Atlas to move. Buttery smooth, shorter than stock, very precise... I love it!
Had the Hurst before and it was SHORT but very notchy and noisy. I was always reminded I had an "aftermarket" item in place.
the shifter=smooth...the tranny not so much....
its the tranny that makes a notchy shift....the c6 and stock shifters take the notchiness out of them by making the shifter feel like a limp noodle and a long throw....shorten the throw, stiffen the shifter and you feel like a notchy shift....liike i said though not the shifters fault
take your pick
I bought my car with the Hurst billet plus already installed. For some reason I love it. It was a little notchy and stiff at first but it's getting a little broken now since I've been driving it. I have the heavy springs in it right now and it's very accurate when shifting 2-3 and 3-4. 4-5 is a little delayed b/c of the stiffer springs.
I had a Pro 5.0 in my Z28 before getting the vette. I had the chance to drive it again after a year (sold it to a friend) and man was it a huge difference. I could not go back to a smooth/easy shifter again after driving with this Hurst.
opposite for me...I loved my pro 5.0 in my TA....i think the way these cars are with the trans in the back and all that extra linkage...they just dont shift as smooth as fbodies
Have had a C6 Z06 shifter and have the Kirban in the current car.
Like them both.
The notchiness might also be caused by the detente bolt that connects the shifter rod to the transmission. It is spring loaded. The spring tension is excessive. By putting a washer or two on you can significantly reduce the spring tension making it much easier to shift.
You forgot the Kirban. I like it but I did cut it down even lower!
I love mine, but they don't seem to have much brand recognition around here.
I understand the thought process behind this poll, but I'm not sure the results will be conclusive. The shifter seems to be one of the most subjective mods based on preferences, shifting style, car use, etc.
Started with the stock C5 ZO6 shifter, changed to a C6 ZO6 shifter and now have the MGW. After about 3 weeks use, I think I will stick with the MGW. So far, the best of the 3 I have used.
When I bought my Z it already had a B&M shifter in it, way too stiff in my opinion. My first mod to the car was a Callaway shifter, huge improvement, no rattles or noise just smooth short throws.
