I recently posted a thread about a leak I found in the oil pan. Now it seems another problem has come up, and I don't know what's causing it. Whenever I turn on the heater or A/C I can smell the oil coming into the cabin. I wouldn't think that a leak from under the car would get through the vents, but I'm no mechanic. I mean, I've had oil leaks in other vehicles before, but I wouldn't smell it inside the car. I guess my question is, whether it's normal to smell the oil, or maybe I have another problem that I'm not yet aware of. Any info would be great!
Could it just be that the leaking oil is hitting the hot exhaust and that's where the smell is coming from? Just a guess here.
thats it, put it on recirculate and see if after a minute or so it goes away. Sometimes the oil can "cake" on the exhaust and take awhile to burn off. When i fix leaks i always clean evrything off really good with brake cleaner and if any is on the exhaust i take extra time for it. good luck, paul
