This may have been brought up before, but I do need a refresher now that it is happening to me:
Every time I start the Vette now, I get the message... "SERV. TIRE MON. SYS.". I know my monitors are probably dying, being 11 years old now, but I am not about to buy new ones at $150.00 each, ($600.00 a set)!!
Is there a way to stop this message from popping up every time without me having to press the "reset" button every time? Maybe some type of DIC program trick or anything?
It's just so annoying.
It's a '98, 40,000 miles, which I still love to drive and plan on keeping a few more years, but can't see spending that kind of money for an unnecessary feature. I manually check my tire pressure weekly anyway.

Hi Mark --
If you know someone who has a Tech II tool, have them delete the TMPS file. No more message. Maybe your local mechanic? Give him a $20 spot (as long as he knows what he's doing).
As far as I know, there isn't anything easy that can be done without the Tech II. It's a part of the program... "The Matrix" has you.

Will this work on a 98?
Also, there are vendors that will replace the batteries for you - cheaper than buying new ones. If you want new ones, gmpartshouse.com sells them cheaper than what you've been quoted
The $600.00 price I got was from Corvette Central and MidAmerica was even higher at $680.00!!
I guess I'll try reprogramming them and see if that works?
What is the life on them anyway? Are all the early C5's dying now?
Thanks again!
Mark D.
Life is around 5 - 7 years, variable by driving sytle and distances. some even get longer from them. with yours chances are reprogramming will not resolve it, but can't hurt to try. I already replaced the originals on my 97 a few years back.
