i have my skip shift deleted but when im cruising around and not getting on it i try to go from 1-2-4-6 especially getting on the freeway to save wear n tear and less work, when going from 2nd to 4th it takes a good push to get it in 4th or from 4-6th as where if i go from 2nd-3keeping the clutch in and going to 4th it goes in much easier obviously because the syncros are better lined up(same with 4-6th but hitting 5th to line them up). my question is does it matter how i do it, is it easier on the tranny if i just go2nd to 3rd then to 4th to line the syncros up vs 2nd to 4th or does it not matter. i figured it wouldn't since these cars came with the skip shift but i just thought i'd ask.
Once in a while, if I'm in traffic and not going too fast, I might shift 1-3-5 and then 6 if it gets fast enough. It seems to go smoothly and maybe saves a couple of ounces of gas.

Exactly what I do and it doesn't hurt the tanny at all. I even go 2-3-5-6 sometimes. 1-4 was a bit of a leap though.
I go 1-3 or 2-4 sometimes around town. I find I have to slow the shift down, specifically the engagement of the higher hear, in order to be smooth. It makes sense; there is more of a differential in RPM between the gears when you skip, so you have to allow the revs to fall. The effect is probably exacerbated by my short shifter.
