...upon shutdown and exiting the car (1998) both windows roll down all by their dam selves. we have swapped keys just to see if the chip was interferring with the security somehow, to no avail. we dont use the remotes as all the batteries have been dead long ago. it also is very random, one time they will go down immediately after walking away, and the next time we will come out to the car in the morning to find them down. called chevy and they have no ideas without "bringing the car in for a look"
is there an easy fix for this, as disconnecting the battery is kind of a pain

OK, I can't say that I have heard anything like this at all... Do you have a window valet installed? Our resident expert on electrical issues is Bill Curlee - you could try sending him a private message to see if he has any ideas.
Def. the window valet, check the diagnostic pore located below the steering wheel see if there is a small box plugged into it, if remove it and if you dont use your fobs dont re-install it. If not then Bill Curlee would be the "Go To Guy"
