You aren't supposed to weld anything since it has a slip fit design. Pretty much all aftermarket x-pipes require you to cut some of the stock mid-pipe off.

It will bolt right up with some minor cutting of the stock mid-pipe. Bassani's x-pipe is one of the better designs out there, and that's a real good price. I say go for it.
Bassani products are good quality. The only thing I would change is the clamps used on the front section, the ones supplied crush the pipes and will make it difficult to remove should the need arise. I would get double-wide band clamps, which are sold at NAPA and other stores, Summit has them too. They seal better and are removeable and reusable. If you are not doing any other exhaust mods they will make it quieter than it is now. Also, the amount of hp increase is quite minimal so I'd probably save my money. The tune is worthwhile, but if you've done nothing else I don't think I'd even bother with that. If you're ever considering doing a header install, most headers would supply the rest of the exhaust system which would include the x-pipe. LG Motorsports has a complete "street" system which they frequently put on sale. It includes long tube headers, high flow cats and x-pipe section, all in polished stainless steel. It runs a little over a thousand dollars for the whole system and with a tune can add a considerable hp increase and a terrific sound. People have gotten more than a 30 hp increase with this complete system. I have it on my car and love it! Just my 2 cents.
