Default C5 Buying Questions

So I've been shopping around in this 'buyer's market' and have come across a wide variety of prices on C5s (I'm currently looking at a 2000 or older). I went to a dealership today and the price went from $19500 to $15900 before I even started negotiating. I guess what I'm wondering is there a thread on things to do to save money when buying from a dealer? I know it's a business and they have to make money, but I've put offers on cars for 3k less than what they have listed at and they seem offended that I would ask for a car for that less. I'm really wondering in this 'buyer's market' what would give me a hand up or how do I get a car for what I'm willing to pay and not get hosed because they need to make some money for the month? I've always been told that something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. Well sorry to make a short story long, but give me your .02.

Thanks

I would check the Kelley Blue Book or the NADA and see what they list the retail price at. Remeber you need to know the milage as well as the options. Also check you local listings. You can usually save money when buying from a private individual, although sometimes they have the car overpriced, because they just believe it is worth it or they have modded it and are try to get that added to it. Finally it is going to come down to what you are willing to pay.
Good luck.

This is worth a read, http://www.edmunds.com/car-advice.html while many titles say new car there is no reason not to apply them to a used car.
