Default Road Noise

Last week or so I posted on this forum regarding road noise in the Z06, especially on concrete roadways. Well, I have received the partition, trunk area covers, and rear compartment mat and installed them with really great results. I would say that the noise factor has been reduced by at least 50 percent, maybe even more. I just returned from Bowling Green, and the difference was really noticeable. I realize that specific brands of tires play a role in this equation as well, but just those few additions from Southern Car Parts make the car must more enjoyable, especially on longer trips.

On an aside: the items had great fit and finish and the partition installed easily and really "sealed" that area. The service from Southern Car Parts was second to none. I had made a typo on the order form, and e-mailed Jim so that he could correct the mistake. He not only e-mailed me that he had received the e-mail and notified the delivery company (UPS) but took the trouble to follow-up with a phone call to my house to double check! Now that is service. Thanks Jim for a quality product and for caring for your customers - a too rare occurance for too many companies these days.

If the car still has the good years on it, once you get rid of them you will be impressed how nice it is to drive one of these cars without all that tire noise.

The tires are Michelin non-runflats, so they are really good at noise suppression in my opinion. I have taken the runflats off my 2000 vert. and put non-runflats on that as well. I understand that the new Good Years and some other tire manufacturers have made runflats which are not as noisy as the older models. I am going to try the Good Year Eagle F1, V Tred on my next tire change. I understand the grip is superior to what is out there.

Thanks for the information.

I agree about Southern's responsiveness, and in particular, their ability to do special order items. Good quality, perfect fit, exactly what i asked for.

I really want to try the covers and rear carpets from Southern. I have their partition already. I have just been waiting til I come up with some extra monies that I can spend on car stuff. Glad to hear it worked out so well for you.
