Is the Hoodliner necessary........what is the purpose of it. I am thinking of just painting under the hood and putting some artwork under the hood......HELP
Many people on this forum have done what you want to do. There was another thread on this subject just last week. I believe the main purpose of the hood pad is for sound deadening of engine noise.

When I put my MCM hood on my '00 I did not run a hoodliner and there were no adverse effects on the paint. If you want to take it off and do some custom painting, go for it. Should look great.
Where did you get the chrome buttons that attach the hoodliner???
Always waving
Those are stainless steel faucet hole plugs from Lowes. 1 1/4" I think. they cost about a buck each. Cheap mod and you can use you old mounting plugs if you are careful taking them off.
