I am looking get rid of the egg-yoke look too but don't want LED's. I have been looking for the chrome look bulbs but have had no luck around here.

I have 48LED switchbacks in mine, with the chrome/amber 194 side bulb, from Autollunimation. They also have the chrome/amber3157 bulbs you're looking for. Check there.

Aren't those LED's? I didn't want to take out a second mortgage for light bulbs. Is there not "chrome looking" standard bulbs?

I have the switchback LEDs in mine also. They weren't too expensive (even with the high capaacity flasher and both switchbacks it was all under $100). Provides a great look too and no "egg yolk look".

Be careful with the chrome diped bulb. Make sure that you get the 4157 and not the 3157. Most of the Chrome dipped ones I've found are just the 3157. While both will fit, the 3157 is NOT rated for use as a daytime running light. I went through two pair of them in a matter of two/three weeks before I found that out. A friend got them and they didn't even last one three hour trip. Be sure if you go the Chrome dipped route to get specifically the 4157 bulb.

Ok....so these 3157 & 4157 bulbs, are they direct repalcement for stock? What is the stock number (is it 1157?)
Are these the bulbs that are combination daytime driving lights and turn signals? If so, why cant I just use a white 1157? Do the daytine driving lights have to be yellow?

The factory bulbs are 4157. While the 3157 (and maybe the 1157) fit in the same harnes, they are not rated the same. This bulb acts as your daytime running lights during normal operation and your "parking" lights when you switch the light stock on the column or are using headlights. These also act as your turn signals and I'm not sure all states allow you to use a "clear" or white light for your turn signal light.

Many of the sights I've seen list the chrome dipped as "3157/4157" but if it doesn't allow you to designate it as a 4157 when placing the order, they are more than likely just using the 3157 bulb and saying it will work in a 4157 requirement (if you compare the size and look of the bulbs, they are very similar if not the same appearance wise). But the 4157 has a higher wattage than the others which is needed for the constant usage of a DRL.

Thanks...I am thinking "white" daytime lights would look better than yellow.

e-bay has the bulbs your looking for but look for the 4157 chrome bulb only. There are some that say "3157/4157" the ones you don't waht. There is also the 194 chrome dip bulbs for the side markers. I am looking for the same thing but holding off on e-bay because of the shipping on the 4157's. Going to look locally first.

Also if buying off e-bay make sure you are careful to select the color you want. There is a lot of different colors in the chrome dipped bulbs.

Brand names are blacked out with marker on the e-bay ads.

No, the DRLs do not have to be yellow, but you can't use a white 1157 bulb. When you hit the turn signal, the light won't light up yellow/amber, as most states require.

I am running standard white double life bulbs. Since MI allows white flashers in the front the DRL's look awesome. I have Orange LED 194 side markers. They are clear when off

How about a misting of high temp silver paint on the bulb?
