I agree with you that the original problem appears to be with the audio installer. I disagree that he shouldn't be upset with the dealer. He paid for diagnostics, was told the controller was bad and replaced it himself based on that information. If the dealer had done the work and it still didn't work, I feel certain the dealer would have said "that fixed part of the problem and now we have to fix the rest of the problem. Oh, that'll be another $700". Rather than admit a misdiagnosis, they'll cover with another story (and charge). Seen it happen many times.
They are some great mechanics and then there are quite a few who should be in another line of work.. So I think the OP has 2 legitimate rants, one with Audio and the other with the dealer diagnostic. After all, "who should know better, than the dealer"? Not.
Thanks for all the replies guys. ^^that is how i meant to come off, but probably didn't.
I called audio express and they are going to look at it again, but I am scared. lol. I am going to take the battery off today though and let it sit all day to see if that will fix it first. Because...

...there are no codes (Besides the occasional Tire Pressure sensor I have had since day one). And I have done some research and looked at all the codes, but they are all fixed. (H) So, I am hoping the battery thing will fix it because I am sure it's got to be something easy. And the DVD service manual I got mentions nothing of resetting the HVAC control module. My hard copies of the service manual should be here any day in the mail. I also did a search and only found copied/pasted materials from service manuals that usually just talk about replacing it.
And with luck, if the battery reset does the job, I will be selling a used hvac control module. lol And I will feel like an idiot for wasting a whole thread on stuff that has been said before and I couldn't find using the search button.
Guess now we know why. Sorry man good luck with the A/C
And by the way, it was definitely more than $1. That was just for the deck. Oh, and when I had my deck installed, they charge $15 for "shop supplies" and $1 for the install. I don't really care, just thought I would let you know.
Edit: and although the A/C is affected, I need the heat at the moment. I work graveyard and get off at 7am. :P
I would check the temp sensor next to the ignition. that sensor is a little tricky to get out and has to come out of the console. the stereo shop could have messed it up trying to get it in or out.
For those of you that replied, I have solved the problem. Unfortunetly, it wasn't the stereo installers fault.
Let's take a trip back to where I left off. So, I went and talked to a lawyer and they said get another opinion from another dealer since the first one misdiagnosed and try and link it to the audio install. So, I did.
And even after I TOLD this (insert nasty name here, cause I don't want to get a warning or something) "service advisor" that I just replaced the HVAC control module, they diagnosed my car as needing a Control module and actuator. Well they got it half right. And again charged me $100 for diagnosis and couldn't even relate it to the audio people. I finally accepted the fact that although it happened at the same time they did the stereo install, I would find it almost impossible to break a gear inside the actuator. By the way they quoted me @ $1300 to fix both.
And I said screw it. I found the actuator, bought it, installed it, and fixed the problem for ~$180
And even though they diagnosed it HALF right, I kind of had a feeling that it was the actuator after reading the manual. I just had to try to prove from the "experts" that is was/was not the installers fault.
So, overall even though I had misguided my anger at first, I now have pure hatred for ANY service dept, at ANY dealer in Las Vegas. And probably will never go to one again anywhere, unless under warranty.
I read through all the post before responding. I understand 100% where you coming from...that is being upset at both the installer and the stealership. It was very suspect that right after the install you experienced a problem in the apparent vicinity of where the worked was performed. Then to have it misdiagnosed not once but twice on your dime. Well, I would have some choice words also! My engine is still under warrenty but would never go to a stealership. Fortunately, I handle mostly any issue that comes along (not all, but most). But I have come across a couple of reliable shops here and one is certified to do warrenty work. I could share some unbeleivable stealership stories and we all could. That's another day.
Latsly, glad all is resolved
