I'd try either some Simichrome or Wenol Blue, a soft cotton cloth and a lot of elbow grease. You might want to wear some plastic gloves, I guarantee that your hands are gonna get BLACK from this project!
OK,, a preliminary step,,,especially if they are sooty or carboned up. Take some carburetor cleaner and spray it on a rag. That stuff will clean ANYTHING off,,leaving an easier job to get them shiny!!!
