Question - I have tried a couple of times to disarm the alarm system on my c5 corvette. When I get out of the car and I close the door the car alarm systems will activate because if I re open the door the horn will start to blowing. I have read the book and followed the procedures to best of my ability but the cant get it set so that when I park my car and i want to go back into the car couple minutes later the system will allow me to just open the door without the alarm going off?
the alarm arms when you lock the car with the remote, or lock the door using the lock button if the door is open. the lock button while the door is closed does not arm the alarm.
ok thanks I get out of the car, lets say I pull in my garage get out my car and I dont lock it, and I go back ten minutes later to open the door and get something out of my car and the alarm will go off. For some reason this started couple months ago and I didnt change anything on the car > 2000 coupe
Also when I say disarm what I mean is to set the alarm function so that lets say I am washing my car in the driveway and the keys are not in the car, If i open the door the alarm system will go off.
the factory alarm arms when you lock the doors, so the aftermarket alarm will arm both (not a bad thing) but when the factory alarm is armed turning on the parking lights alone will set it off, the aftermarket alarm could trigger the factory alarm while flashing the lights etc. what can I do about this?
The alarm system on my car turns on even when I dont lock my doors

So you have an aftermarket alarm system tied into the factory system????
yeah, if its doing what you say that is not how the stock security system works. either something is wrong or you've got an aftermarket alarm with some kind of passive arming system. you said your car is 2000+ so you don't have factory passive arming either right (was that gone in 2000??? I have a 99 which does have it) if you have a passive switch on your key fob set it to off or it will arm itself.
ok thanks I dont have an aftermarket system on my car .
I think people took this to mean that you had an aftermarket system installed.

there's not much you can do. and the aftermarket alarm will only arm the stock alarm if you arm the aftermarket alarm with the door open. hitting the lock button doesn't arm the stock alarm if the doors are closed.
to prevent the aftermarket alarm from setting of your stock alarm:
1) always arm the aftermarket alarm first, then stock
2) don't use the stock alarm anymore
3) wire it up that way...you would have to tap into each of the 4 turn signal/marker bulbs and diode isolate each one to prevent the alarm signal flashing the parking lights from backfeeding to the BCM and thus triggering the stock alarm. its possible, but a pain to do. I was going to go for it because I like having things done 100% but I ultimately had to decide that it was not worth the trouble.
