Default LG vs Kooks vs AR

Whats your favorite and why? And form a performance standpoint who has the edge. Which will have the best fitment and all around performance.

I think it'll be very difficult to get an objective opinion on this. Most people have not had experience with more than one brand.

From what I've read, it seems that LG Pros seem to make the most power, but there are occaisional fit issues. I've spoken with a couple of tuners, and I'm leaning toward ARH.

Just my $0.02.

Best overall fit are ARH! They do well at the dragstrip also!

I see that alot of the vendors on here use the AR headers. I've read the Lg are great and so are the Kooks. I didn't list Dynatech, I've heard good things about them too.I hear the TQ under the curve is the best for the LG's. But really can you go wrong with any?

Hi guys.....

Just my $.02 New to the Vette game but am an Old Muscle Car guy from waaaaaay back

I just installed the Melrose Header Long tubes and their fit AND finish is awsome.....don't know about the hp comparrison between all the brands but I have to believe they are close. Kept my original ti-mufflers ('04 Z06/Z16) and the sound is awsome! Installed in my garage....not bad at all. Since I live in NW IL...only have about 15miles on the car since install, but oh yea their is a difference

Jim

Whatever a person has they'll say are the best.

I'm very happy with my Kooks and High Flow Cats on my SC coupe.

For street use all the brands mentioned are fine. The performance diffs are negligible no matter what anybody says.

I've installed LG street on a couple of Vettes for buddies and they are probably the best bang for the buck out there. Fit perfect, perform well and sound great. Really not worth paying almost double for Pros to pick up another 5 hp (maybe)

If I had it to do again, I would try something other than the LG Streets that I have now. Fit with the cats is not good at all. From what I can tell, the cats seemed to be an afterthought on how they setup the headers. If you use the delete pipes that they provide instead, you will get a much better fit.

The headers fit perfect. The cats did taker a little work but the finished product in fine.

Yeah the headers themselves lined up nicely on mine as well. All the tweaking in the world though wasn't getting the cats in right. I'm gonna have to have a muffler shop do some welding for me.

LG's have longer tubes and provide better mid-range.

The ARH's are shorter and provide high RPM power.

Don't know much about kooks headers. Tony Mamo wrote a nice piece about all of this awhile back.

The real problem was the size of the inlets and outlets for the Cats was too small to fit the headers and catback. Took some work to get them on. (longer then installing the headers) A muffler shop could easily expand the pipes as required in about 2 seconds.

The other set was installed with the off road X. Bolted right up.

I have Kooks and the Cats are pre-welded in the X so it bolts right up.

Still all said the Streets are the best bang for the buck. IMHO

I went with the Kooks system for the reasons you listed.I heard nightmare stories of the fitment for the cats on LG's.

Probably the issue with mine. Hardest parts will be taking everything off to get the cats off.

Stay away from SLP. I have heard they are a massive PITA to install.
