How difficult is it to paint your calipers? I want to make them red, but have the "CORVETTE" in white....is that difficult? can anyone help me out in this process? .... steps to take? best paint to use? etc...

If you want to make the letters white or silver, some just scrape the red paint off with razor blade or sandpaper and then leave it silver or hand panit it white...Indy.

My suggestion. Clean, clean and clean. Make sure there spotless. I start with brake cleaner and then use detergents like Dawn to clean the rest of the junk off. The final cleaning, I use laquer thinner. I removed mine, which made it easy in my opinion.

This may help too:

Clean them with laquer thinner and Simple Green, mask off the area really well and use VHT from a rattle can. I clean off the letters with a rag streached really tight over my index finger and wipe the paint off the letters with laquer thinner.

The hardest part, and most important part of the job, is cleaning / preparation. I used a caliper paint kit from auto zone, and brush painted my calipers. You will need to get more / better brushes. I used the brushes once and tossed them out, they are prone to lose the hairs if you use them multiply times. I just scraped off the corvette lettering with a razor blade when done. You can also take some extra fine emery cloth and 'polish' the letters

Let the paint setup for awhile, then trim the excess off the letters with a razor blade. Don't let the paint fully cure before trimmng the excess.

All very good suggestions. When I did mine the calipers were off the car, but it can be done with them installed - just be sure to tape off any lines, etc. that you don't want paint to get on. And an exacto knife or razor blade will take the paint off the letters when you are done.
