Default Non pop up headlights

Before you say it, I already did a search!

Anyone out there changed their headlights to non pop up? There is a great difference in price and looks.

Also any comments on ease of installation, bulb replacement etc will be greatly appreciated.

I want to have non pop-ups as well. The ones from ecklers would be the one I would choose if I had the money to spend on them. The mid-am ones are depo's and I have heard alot of bad things as far as fitment and cracking. The west coasts are just plain ugly.

Were they easy to install?

Do you have problems with condensation inside as some members have reported?

Thanks.

Being somewhat of a headlight expert, here's my opinon:

The mamotorworks headlights are the Depo model. They're inexpensive for a reason. The lenses are made of a sub-standard plastic that develops stress fractures. A C5 came into Franks Vettes a couple weeks ago with these on it and I saw the stress fractures in person…they look horrible. The Depos are also the biggest possible frog-eyes you can get.

The ecklers lights have excellent lenses, but the output from the lights themselves leave much to be desired. I talked to an owner at a local street meet who had them. He said the pattern is horrible and the output not much better than stock. The Upside is these lights are VERY easy to retro-fit with projectors. One CF member installed a set of Hella 50mm low beam projector in this set with excellent results. You’d be looking at about $250 for a pair of these projectors and $80-100 for a suitable HID kit and harness. I will be using these lights as the basis for my next kit. With HID projectors, this kit is by far the best you can get… without projectors, they’re sub par.

The west coast corvette lights are appear to be the discontinued version of Specter Werkes exposed headlights. I believe they use the same optics. I recommend the C5-R lights for the same price: http://www.westcoastcorvette.com/p-3...light-kit.aspx

The Specter Werkes lights are the base for my current setup. Granted I dumped the projectors they came with in favor of highly modified E55 Bi-xenons, but their projectors are decent. Here are some output shots of the Specter Werkes headlights with the original projectors. I used a 9006 55w 6000K HID bulb in the low beams and spaced the bulb for the best cut off pattern I could get:

I’m actually selling the modified projectors from my Specter werkes kit (high and low beam) I used a 3000k halogen in the high beam for poor weather and removed the cutoff shield.

I have a nice brand new set w/HID upgrade for sale over here.

Just paint to body color or black and install. All of the hard work of drilling and shaping the lenses has been done for you.
