Break Line bolts
While trying to reinstall the brake line banjo, the bolt was hand threaded into the caliper. We used a torque wrench to attempt to tighten but it would just spin. This happened on both front calipers. After removing the bolts, here is what we unwound from the bolt. Seems like the bolt just dethreaded the caliper? Anyone experience this before? BTW, we reinstalled the stock calipers and torqued to spec with no issue. No we did not cross-thread.

It is obvious that the bolt ate the thread out of the caliper. A little more data would help in analyzing the problem. What type of caliper stripped - brand and new or used ? If used, in what shape were the internal threads. That strip of metal in the pic almost looks like a Heli-Coil unwound that is used to save previously stripped threads. Were you using stock bolts and were they the correct ones for caliper used ? Are you sure of the torque # used is correct and was your wrench set properly. The only things I can think of that would strip one out like that is 1) excess torque but that would take a lot 2) Mismatched thread possibly metric / SAE incompatibility.
