Default my simple mod for the weekend

decided to do something to the vette this weekend, no mater how simple...

I have seen several posts about BSM removal. I am not here to argue if BSM vs no BSM is better... it seems to have been done before...

since I picked up my 02' one of the things that I have been unsure about was if I liked the body side mouldings that came on the car...

I decided to spend some time in the garage sunday and take them off...

I used a heat gun, some very small string, some 3M adhesive remover, a shop towel, and my Meguiar's clay bar kit with a clay bar, quick detailer, and mirofiber towel

It was hard to believe how much the claybar removed, after the bsm was removed and the paint was cleaned with the adhasive remover...

above is what I started with, I did not like the look of the BSM's, espicially the way that the silver looked, it seemed to look a different shade compared to the body....(the camera catches this good)

I started on the left front fender, to see how easy the bsm would come off and how easy it would clean up....

the left front fender turned out good, so i moved onto the left door....

the residue after removing the bsm......

pics after cleaning the residue from the left side, and using the clay bar.......

pics after the removal of the BSM's....

pics of the right side.... (yes i did that side too)

For what it is worth , never liked the bsm except as protection. I have spears in the front fender vent , seen grilles too, spears are easy , paint matched and 3m double side tape. Get alot of compliments on them. Just a thought.

Looks good!
I know the BSM's serve a definite purpose, but IMO,they break up the continuity,or smooth lines of the Vette.
I definitely like the look without them.
The car doesn't look BAD with them, just better without.

Good Work!

I'm so used to seeing people ruin their cars by adding a bunch of plastic crap so it's refreshing to actually see someone strive to clean up the car.

not too sure about that, you may have lost a few HP by removing them.
I like the clean look myself also.

BSM vs. spears. Give me BSM's any day. Those spears just look like cheap stick-ons to me.

Looks great! I'm also a fan of the clean look. In fact, so much so I removed my front and rear emblems. Now I have the clean look all around the car.

I think you will loose speed because the nose will want to lift now. That's why they put on the BSM and they break up the air that might create suction on the sides of the car.

Looks good on silver color without them, good job. I like mine on a darker color and don't want to loose any speed advantage.

Amen!!! Our cars don t need x-tra krap glued to them to look awesome. I like mine the way it is... Adding a big cube motor?? Yeah, that s a worthwhile add-on....

Good job on the removal. With or without the BSM's your car looks good.
