magnetic red?
Was there two different shades of mag red, through the c5 run, and were the significantly different?
I am looking at buying some headlight covers in this color and I have a 99 and want to make sure hopefully the color matches

Yup, 2 different ones. Mine is a Mag II. You can look at your color code. 86U is Magnetic Red Metalic w/tint coat. On the build sheet it's shown as an $600.00 option added on. Hope that helps.

I have a 99 with mag red 1 and had my roof painted to match the car only to find that there are seven different mixes within the paint code. the vin number helped narrow it down by mfr date paint manufacturer and even the facility where it was painted.It not only involves the tints but the metalic flake colorand courseness.Good luck but at worst you can have a shop paint match them for you not real costly.
