I put a CAGS bypass on about 4 months ago. Last week I went down to Tuson, hit triple digits a couple of times (120+). When I started up to go home got the code P0803. Well the CAGS resistor got fried or the connection is loose or dirty. I did use a zip tie to fasten it up. I know I can buy another CAGS unit and/or refasten and clean the existing unit. My question is I know you can tune out the CAGS. But I don't want to spend $$$ for a tune just to do that. The only mods I have done are GHL bullets and the zip-tie air intake. Is there a cheap tune I can have done to eleminate the CAGS? Thanks as always for your help.
I may be wrong, but I thought this could be disabled using the Tech II tool that the service guys use - I'm not sure that's the same as a tune though - more like shuting off an option in my mind....
and I don't unbderstand why high speed would fry it - you may want to talk to the place you bought it - sounds defective to me
You can have it tuned out. You can get a mail order tune from Chuck and Corvettes of Westchester. You can not believe the difference it will make. Money well spent and all you have to do is mail him your PCM.
I experienced the same problem (same code). Ended up just replacing the CAGS bypass unit. For $20, it just wasn't worth the time to rebuild the unit. Some manufacturers version of CAGS bypass have had problems with resistors failing.
If you want to go the route of tuning it out, I don't think you can beat the price that ECS is offering...$149.00. Tune is also "unlocked." Not sure, but I've heard other vendors lock their tunes...

We can turn CAGS off for you, and give you a real dyno-tune for $500. If you simply want to have CAGS turned off - I'm sure we can just turn it off for a very nominal fee. Give me a call tomorrow and I'd be happy to get you a price on exactly what you want!!
