My pass side window motor went out. I see some people selling just the motor- others selling the motor and track. Do I need to replace the motor and track- or can I just get away with replacing the motor itself? How much of a PITA is it to just do the motor WO the track and vice versa. I'm trying to find the less labor intensive route. Thanks to all in advance. -97C5
Before you replace the motor, try turning on the key and hold the window button down and slam the door closed hard a few times. This is a common problem and if it works it will save you some time and money.
It is definitely easier to just replace the whole regulator assembly.
You have to take the assembly out anyway to replace the motor, and it is a pain to remove the motor and get the cable drive housing back together with the new motor.
I couldn't find just the motor, I bought the whole dang assembly. If you do the whole assembly, you will need a helper to get the glass out. It's not a hard job.
Just replaced mine last week. Have to get the entire assembly, I am not aware of anyone offering just the motor. It is less than an hour labor to change it if you know what you are doing. I elected to have mine done rather than mess with it myself.
***Be advised...GM has changed the part number on these. The old part number is available if you look for it. The new part number is a C6 unit and requires an additional connector adapter. With the adapter, you will have to cut the motor connector off of the door harness and attach the new type of connector to the harness. The adapter is supplied with crimp connectors, but the supplied adapters are too big, so you will need to get the correct size.

All is well, got the connector Fed-Ex Friday morning, had the car put back together within a couple hours. Meant to drop you a line and let you know! Thanks for the great service.
