Spent all morning cleaning and Zainoing the Z, go for a ride and the wipers kick on by themselves. Cant get the dmn thinks to shut off, so I stop the car and start looking for the wiper fuse. Then on a hunch I restart the car and the wipers shut off. 5 min later they go at it again, now I look really cool in a Z06 with beatiful weather and the wipers on - so I hit the washers to retain my dignity at least Im wiping something. Then they cycle off again. And so on and so on etc. Just turned 1k miles and I got my first Kentucky gremlin - Thank you General :U :U :U
If you get water in the wiper motor it will short the wiper module and do this until it dries out.
Been there and done that on my '98 :bb
Also, if the BCM (Body Control Module) gets wet it can cause some pretty funky behavior - when my BCM went out (due to A/C condensation backing up) I could't keep the rear hatch closed. Even with the engine off, it would pop on its own. But I also got a lot of errors on the DIC, so if you're not seeing that, I'd suspect the motor.
They started again at lunch today, :cry I pulled the fuse, the ride goes into the dealer on Wed this week, 1200 miles of trouble free driving, thanks GM :U
Had this problem with my Ford Explorer. My wipers would come on for no
reason. The problem would go away for a couple of days and then return.
Took it to the dealer for a wiper motor replacement and it solved the problem.
