Has any one every purchased and installed the computer laser cut window tint kit for their vette ? if you have, was the rear window installation easy or hard ? any tips or tricks on how to get perfect results on tinting the rear window. The tint shops want no less than $250, and the pre kit is only $30 on ebay.
Thank you for any help or advice you can give me.
the rear hatch you will screw up. Doing curved windows is very difficult and requires heating of the tint to shrink it to fit correctly. I couldn't even get the side windows myself because of their curve. I would suggest doing you own tint on something with boxey windows (I did my sonoma just fine) but leave your corvette to the pro's. I took mine in and had it done for $225 and couldn't be happier. PLUS you will get quality tint. The tint I bought off eBay turned blue in about a month, what a joke.
For the record, on my coupe the tech told me that he had to shrink the tint for both side windows and do the hatch in 3 pieces, shrinking each piece and cutting so each pieces edge hid behind a defroster line. He did a fantastic job on it and is something I definitely would not want to do. Take it to a pro!
You can get quality precut tint but it is going to cost you more then the stuff on ebay. I just ordered some for mine from www.tintkits.com I have used them in the past and have been very happy. I have a vert so I wont have the same issues with the rear window If I had somewhere close that would do it for 225 I would be all over it but the closest tint place to me is 200 miles away so I will be doing it myself again
I bought it for my son's MR2. Not the same quality as shop installed. Shop around and make a counter offer. All retailers are hurting.

shop for tint at local pro shops...... they will deal....payed $50.00 for the door glass .....got a great deal and it looks super.........after I wasted $30.00 on material and could not get it to look right
Thanks for the responce, I guess I will look for a tint shop to do it, does anybody know a good shop in the CA. Bay Area, that does quality work and for a good price.
Thanks again.

I've done other vehicles in the past but couldn't get the Vette windows right. It's a strange curve to the glass that gets you. Leave it to the pros. I didn't have the back glass done because I like to see clearly at night and past experience with tint and defoggers hasn't been good. They did the two sides for $100. which is OK.
