Made a partition and a cover for large trunk opening. Partition is foam core with carbon fiber on each side. Installed mine from rear so items wont knock it down when braking. Had to hinge rear part of cover because about 3 inches of it is foward of partition. Front side of partition is clear coated to show carbon and area in trunk is carpeted. [QUOTE]Looks good Dave2. How did you attach the divider and rear cover to the car? Can you elaborate on the construction and installation process?
The divider is installed from trunk side. If you look in trunk there is a metal bar that runs across car at foward edge. Uses sticky back velcro there. Divider is tight enough fit to hold cover in place though velcro could be used there also. Divider and cover are carbon/fiberglass laminates over foam cores. Very light and very strong. Can be removed or installed in car in seconds. Looks better than my pics. show.
My company produces glass and carbon fiber racing parts. We purchase material from local supplier. Do a search for Aircraft Spruce. Can purchase from them.
Very Very nice.
I'm about to start building mine. Where did you buy the carbon fiber material?
I spoke with Dave yesterday evening and he hasn't decided if he wants to produce this product yet. He says it depends on the quantity of people interested. After all this is what he does for a living, mostly motorcycle stuff though. Dave also mentioned if he has enoough peolpe interested he can make these in different colors of composite material. IE..Black Red White Yellow Blue......
First we need to determine how many are interested. We are looking at the $450 range. Any thoughts
