Default FRC/Targa conversion or Rear Tub replacement

I seem to remember a forum member did coupe to FRC conversion a while back. Does anyone have the link to the thread? I can't seem to find it in the search.

Thanks

A friend of mine & I did this, he took his 00 vert and bought an FRC roof, cut it added a targa top and a few other items and got this. It took more than a month of bonding sanding etc before sending it to paint but it came out great.

DAYUM!!That looks sharp!!! Is the top fully removable?? If I had the time and money,,I'd like to targa my FRC,,just to be different!! But that's also why I like the FRC in the first place!!

Did you have to replace the rear tub? I crossed lanes at the track this weekend and planted the left rear in the wall. Looking at a full tub replacement. Among other things but that is the biggest item.

No the tub was not touched. If you look at the 3rd pic you can see that the original toneu cover is still intact and the FRC rear glass and roof section is bonded on. There are other ways about doing this conversion but my friend wanted to keep the waterfall and toneua cover intact. If you are replacing the entire tub you could possibly find a complete section from an FRC or Z06 from cleavland pick a part. That company sold nearly all the parts used in this conversion and has lots of vette parts.

Yes the top was removable along with all the other parts he also purchsed a second tonneu cover so removing it was as simple as 4 bolts and unplugging the release button. Then he could have the vert look again with the vert top still stored inside.

Hmm....would it be possible to have the FRC rearwindow molded into the trunk allowing it to lift like the hatchback on the targa coupe? essentially it wold be a targa coupe but with the sexy lines of the FRC.

Caravaggio Corvettes in Canada sells a kit for the conversion. I bought it and had a custom shop install. Love it.
