Damn mice ate part of my hood liner I went to get my Vette ready for it's Spring wakeup when I discovered mouse crap and a nice little hole they ate out of the liner. In the Fall when I put the car up I put moth ***** in a baggie with vent holes directly on the engine and it's as if they liked the smell, because it sure didn't deter the little bastards. What do you guys use to deter the varmints from striking? I've tried Irish Spring and now moth ***** but neither were effective. By the way, where do you get new hood liners? Thanks
Forget the moth ***** or soap. Put out a bunch of glue traps, and some poison in the boxes, and just kill the little bastards. No more mice= no more problem.
MOTH *****??? How could you do that to a moth? My God man, how could you do that to an innocent little creature
Someone needs to report this to p.e.t.a.!!!!!

You don't put the poison inside your car. Who wants a dozen dead mice under your seats or up in your dash. Set traps & sticky paper outside & stop them dead.
Let me tell you about the poison in the boxes in my 87 Vert several years back. I had just put the car away for the winter (I lived in the North East then.) A warm day came along and I wanted to take it for a ride. I noticed mice droppings on the floor mats and knew there was a problem. So I bought a box of the mouse poison and set it on the floor of the passenger side. Next morning the box was empty. So I bought a second box and set it on the floor of the passenger side. Next morning it is also empty. WTF!!!!! Must have a huge family of these critters. Put the car out in the driveway intent upon finding where they were at. When I closed the door a bunch of the poison fell down on the seats. They had stuffed the bows of the top full of the poison. Also had it stuffed away in pocket between the bottom and back of the seats, under the seats, everywhere you can imagine. Took many, many hours of disassembly to get to and clean up the poison they had squirreled away for future feasts. Once I got it all cleaned up I boght the stickey boards and put them all around the tires. Caught 3 and never had a problem after I got those 3.
Use the stickey boards around the tires the next time you store it away and NOT the poison!!!!
I didn't mean that you should put it in the car, just in the garage area. I keep the doors and windows closed on my coupe just to keep mice, or bugs out of it.You are probably right though that the glue traps are a better idea. Never heard of the little buggers doing this with the poison though.
Hopefully they didn't chew into any of your wiring?!?
If the traps don't work, you may want to think about getting a cat!
Funny because when I lived up north, I used to get field mice in my garage every winter. I used traps, glue sticks, etc. I would catch a few, but still had some problems.
It wasn't until I decided to move our cat's box out to the garage from our laundry/mud room that I noticed there were no more mice. It was pretty slick as I installed a cat door through a closet wall that let her in/out without us opening the main door. I once found a piece of mouse guts that she left after one of her "night hunts".
I was never a big cat fan as I inherited her with my wife when we got married. Since then, I have changed my attitude towards the little beast. She's a pretty cool pet!
When I had my Honda stored away for the winter some years back, some critters must have nested under the car, because I noticed some chewed cables when I got it in the spring. Make sure to check all the wires, cables, and lines and inspect them for damage!!!!
I'll have to check for other damage tonight Hopefully they choked on the hood liner I just checked the price and a new one is around $100. Not bad but it's not what I wanted to spend my money on.
There are several members here that are driving around without the hood liner (they say that it doesn't damage the paint). Or you can put those 100 dollars into an "aftermarket hood fund" Get a vented hood...no worries of overheating...no hood liner

Just pull it off. The underside of the hood is painted and will look better than torn hood liner.

If you drive your Vette in cold weather and store it inside, the mice can also nest there since they want the warmth. It's a good idea to check under the hood often for signs of rodents.
Of course, you could use a "humane trap" and then triple chrome them and sell them here!!!
