Default Help with Wheel Sizes

I've been considering picking up these wheels from Corvette Garage that come in the stock sizes and offsets. I was wishing they came in an 18/19 combo when I came across essentially the same wheels on the Big Auction Site in an 18/19 setup. Unfortunately, the front 18" wheels were only 8.5" wide. So I called them and they told me they had this style wheel in the following sizes:

18X8.5 with 46mm offset

18X10.5 with 58mm offset (meant for rears)

19X10 with 65mm offset.

I can make do with the 19X10s, running a 295 tire, but I need at least a 9.5" width up front. Will the stock size rears offered by Corvette Garage or the 18X10.5 with 58mm offset (perhaps they are the same) work up front? These wheels are exactly the look I was searching for and they are a great price if I can "make" a set that will fit. Thanks.

Are you doing this for a big brake upgrade?

I think you should go w/ a fatter tire in the rear.. but that probably means you'll have to go w/ different wheels.. idk.. your call.

I'd like to go with a 305 or 315, but I can live with a 295.

It's certainly not the main reason I am switching wheels. I might upgrade to Baer Eradispeed rotors, but that's about it. Those rotors will fit on Corvette Garage's stock size wheels. I did not enquire with the other vendor. I suspect they will fit if the calipers are shaved which is typical for a wheel with this sort of lip. I think the general consensus is that BBKs are more cosmetic than functional. Good pads, stainless lines, and new Dot 4 fluid and the stock setup will hang with any BBK. Cheers.

I HAD these wheels from Corvette Garage and I Sold them.. They did Look VERY nice, But I didn't like the fact that they were about 6lbs heavier than Stock Z06 Rims. YOU do have to shave your Brake Calipers if your using the Bear EradiSpeed +1 Rear Rotors, but I did get them to fit fine. The other thing I didn't like was that the Stainless Steel Lips are a thin peice of Stainless Steel Veneer Glued onto the Rim.. But I guess that's why they are the Price they are! Hope this helps!.

Do your homework on wheel weights..... You will be so disapointed when you feel your car get slower and handling reduce, after you spent big $$ on cheap wheels and tires.... Learn from my mistake I made years ago....

I did my homework on the second set of wheels/tires I got and very happy I did...

Yeah I remember you PM'd me about the weights the other day when I contacted you...thanks again. Someone else posted them being lighter, but I just can't see it with the cost. The 18/19 set on eBay is under $600 for all four. One reason I like them is that I really can't make up my mind so I thought I'd just get something cheaper and hopefully reuse the tires later if I changed my mind. And again as I mentioned, the gunmetal center with the polished rim is the look I was interested in.

Hi Mark. Yeah I know all about unsprung weights...been down that road with other cars. I actually almost called and ordered a set of SP500s today. I like them a lot. I'm just not sure I wouldn't like a set of HREs with a gunmetal center and polished lip better. I wish I was better with photoshop to play around. A friend at another site did this one for me. It's the look I am interested in.

I was gonna PM you tonight and ask you if there was anything special about your set or would I just call CCW and ask for 19's with a 2" & 3" lip. I know you mentioned the possibility of smaller lip sizes to make BBKs easier. But to be honest, after more research, I think I will go with Eradispeed rotors and just upgrade the pads. I don't anticipate a lot of track time with the car. Thanks again for all the info.
