OK, I usually don't spend much time here in C5, but I looked at an 01 coupe today and am wondering about some things.
First off, it's a 01 coupe, solid top, 6 speed, Dark blue/tan, HUD, Z51, sport seats, 30k, CD changer. It is at a dealer, so I was wondering what you are thinking is a decent price. It has had two owners. I didn't have time to drive it today, but I am going back Monday or Tuesday, to drive it and an 02 they have, very similar car option and mileage-wise, but it has F45.
If the newer car is similarly priced and you like the options, I would go with it. The F45 is actually a pretty good set up. If you want to carve the asphalt a little harder, you can easily (and fairly inexpensively) get the shocks and sway bars of your choice. One nice feature of Z51 is the more performance oriented gearing in the diff. But you'll pay for that everytime you put gas in the car.
Best wishes.
Glen
Thanks for the replies. I was thinking in the $20k range as well. I think they may be hungry and want to deal. In my 94 I have the Z07 package which is the performance handling...large sway bars, heavy duty springs, performance axle, so I am familiar with the ride/handling etc. I am going to try and trade them my 94 and see where we go.
Oh, is there anything in particular I should look for/at or ask about on these cars? Not real familiar with the C5s...as a matter of fact this is the first one I ever sat in today.
BTW, it was much easier to get in and out of, compared to my 94.
I'm no expert and both cars sound nice, but I have read on this forum that there were oil consumption isues with some '01's. Good luck with whatever you decide.
I spent about a year casually looking around and then found a car this past December. It's a 2004 A4 coupe, with 15K miles, Magnaflow catback and Z06 wheels. Not many options, other than 3.15 rear gears. Car is basically flawless cosmetically, though it does have the piston rap thing happening when engine is cold.
Seller and I went back and forth. I paid $20,800. Since then, I have installed new tires (non-RF), plus a Vararam CAI and Chuck CoW tune. I think I paid fair price, but honestly don't think I'd get all my money back if I tried to sell it right now.
If you do a little searching on the C5 forums, you'll find plenty of posts similar to what you're asking.
Here's pics of car I bought. Maybe this'll help you out for comparison.
Look at the Sticky (at top of forum 1st page) Weights, measurements, ratios, strengts, etc. That should keep you busy for a while!
Thanks, I didn't see that before. I did spend quite a bit of time reading through that and brings up some questions.

I've got a buyers checklist along with other Word files that might help you out a bit. PM me your e-mail address and I'll forward it to you.
BTW, I'd say the $19-20K range would be about right.
