If I buy new front calipers for my Vette, do they come with the pistons, bleed valve, etc.? Or, are they JUST the caliper in its bare form? Just curious, since mine are all dingy and I can't clean them up nice enough to be happy. My efforts to refinish them did not go too well. Thanks!
I bought a set of new Z06 ones a few years back from one of the dealers here on the forum. Just had to swap them out with the stock ones, switch over the pads, and bleed them and they were good to go!

Sounds like they came with the hardware... thanks for the info!
I'll second that. I bought a set of new ZO6 calipers from Gene a few years ago and they came complete, just put on the pads, bolt them on, bleed em and your ready to go.
great! The Z06 ones are what I need. Hopefully I can get them up here within a week or two... Winter hibernation should be ending in early April and I wanna be ready to go!
You do know that the only difference between the ZO6 and the standard C5 is they are painted red, so if there's a big diff in price just buy the standard C5 and one of those caliper painting kits for about $20 and do it yourself.

I figured that was the only difference; however I discovered... at the expense of my current calipers... that I SUCK at painting anything. At this point it's easier to ditch the ones I screwed up and buy new ones. They had become faded and stained black from years of brake dust; I was trying to bring them back to life. It didn't end well. Besides, I already have new rotors and pads... may as well make everything new!

Just have your old ones powdercoated for 1/2 the price of new ones.

This isn't a bad option, or just paint them yourself. The duplicolor kit worked fine for me. Clean them well, and REMEMBER, it takes several coats of paint before they look good. The first three coats looked like crap. FINALLY, it looked good with the last one. Get a better brush(at a hardware store) than the one that comes with the kit, mask off the areas you don't want to paint, and do it on a warm, but not hot day. The paint dries so fast, that it is easy to put one coat of paint on right after another.
Hmm, hadn't thought of that. Now, will the pistons / rubber seals need to be removed beforehand? I don't know how to do this part.
Just get Mike the Powdercoater on the Forum. Pay him with a core charge. He'll do your calipers AND brackets, ship them to you ready to install, then you send the old ones and get you core charge back. This way you Vette's not down

Hmm, that sounds promising! I was talking to a local guy just an hour ago, but he obviously doesn't have cores on-hand. I'll go look him up! Thanks.
edit: Thanks for that link! Just sent him an email. Now I just need to decide if I should go with gloss black for the brackets, or have them red to match the calipers!
