i don't have the money to make a down payment but i can make at least a 1000 dollar payment a month.
i have only been looking at buying a vette for two months now and i'm not very knowledgeable about cars yet. i'd like to ask if you think this is a good deal and if i might have to pay a lot of money to maintain it after should i go ahead and buy it.
I bought my vette off craigslist, from a local individual. I would not buy from a dealer. In my experience about 50% of time these are "problem vettes"
If you are seriously looking, I'd recommend joining a local vette club and getting to know the members. Odds are in this economy, someone has a really nice, well-taken-care-of, enthusiast owned car for sale. If they don't then at least they can give you lots of pointers on what to look for in a used vette.
I bought my vette from a private seller on craigslist. I also sold my last car on craigslist. There is nothing wrong with trying to sell it on there, it is free so many people use it. I paid a good amount of money to advertise on autotrader and nothing came out of it.
But as for the car you are looking at the price seems a little high. I'm curious what "very low miles" means though.
Bought mine on Craigslist also - got a good deal $18000 for a '99 2 years ago. Also sold my last one as well as a lot of other stuff on the list also w/ no probs.
If the guys honest w/ you he'll be up front w/ any probs that might exist.
Good luck!
PS: The price didn't look too bad either and it's probably negotiable.

Take your time. This sounds purely emotional without a hint on logic. In terms of not knowing about the cars go join a local club and talk with the members, read all you can here on the forum (all sections), and you'll be much more equipped to look at a car.
Price is too high in this market. It's a 6 year old car with 50K miles so you will definitely be looking at maintenance and repair costs down the road, so yes you need to budget for them. If you can afford to make a $1000 a month payment I'd suggest you start saving and look around at whats available. In no time you'll have enough for a good down payment and a little put aside for the inevitable unforeseen expenses. Oh and then there's the modding! Best of luck in your search

Probably a little high on the price. The car looks clean, but you'd really need to look at the maintenance history to see how well it has been taken care of. I'd look around a bit more too. If you can afford $1K/month in payments, then you can probably get into a much newer car that may have a factory warranty on it.
It would probably help you if you had $$ for a down payment. If you can afford $1,000 a month payment, why not save $1,000/month for 5 months and go for it?
with all of the comments, you will usually pay about 5 to 6k more for a z06 than you would a coupe c5, a little more for vert as well. You can go to kbb.com or nada.com and research value from low to high in your area. I know people that have vettes with 150k and more miles with very little problems if any. I do think you will get the mod crazies like all of us. Shop around and club members usually do take better care of the car.
