I already have the parts to do the CLB from Corvettes of Houston. My questions relate to what I can expect when I remove the kick plate. First a little background; my column lock is still working, I can hear it when I insert or remove the key, plus the wheel will not turn. The previous owner had ECL recall done, I have the sevrice record from GM and it shows that V0743 ECL Relay Harness Replace was done on 9/26/01.
Questions:
The service report shows that both 01044 and 04006 were done, but it doesn't give the letter. I'm hoping that someone will have an idea from the above date whether just the K harness was installed or if the K and the jumper wire were done. My understanding is, if just the K, I can remove it and replace with the CLB and be good to go. If it has the jumper wire I'll probably need someone better at electrics to help.
Second, do you think that the fuel cut off was set to 2MPH, I'd like to have an idea before I pay a tuner to change it to 255.
I can't address your second question but mine had the original 04006 recall done by the previous owner, this was a reprogram of the computer to initiate the fuel shut-off above 2MPH. So yes, I would have it re-programmed, in fact I still need to have it done myself. I did install the CLB and it was an easy job, the instructions that came with it were clear but I also found additional instructions on this board somewhere.
Regardless of what level recall has been installed, I would just install the CLB relay and see what happens first.
Even if your car is programmed to cut fuel if the BCM thinks the column is locked, the relay should simulate the actuator signal to the BCM and prevent that from happening.
Since your column still locks, you have not had the last recall, which removed the lockplate. I would consider having the lockplate removed so at least you do not have to deal with a locked column if the actuator fails.

My 6-spd 03 had the 04006 reprogram before I bought car 2yr ago. First thing I did was install CLB from C of H. No K harness was found when I did it. Motor backed out the pin, wheel turns free, no problems. Forge ahead and install the thing. I also printed out more detailed forum instructions as the instructions with the kit were pretty simplistic.
