C5 engine noise/squeak when in drive
A little history. I have a 98 auto that I bought a little over a year ago with 60k miles on it. When I first got it, there was a faint belt squeak, audible whenever the engine was running, that went away with belt dressing. To get rid of it permanently, I replaced both belts with gatorbacks, and replaced both tensioner. That was about 10 months ago.
I now have a new squeak. After the engine has been running a while, and is idling in gear, I get a squeak. This only seems to happen when it's in gear, idling (when I rev just a little it seems to go away), and is at its worst when the engine has been running for at least 10 minutes or so.
Since all the belts/tensioners are less than a year old, I suspect it's a squeaky bearing.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to look at first?
Also, anyone know of a decent mechanic near Folsom, CA? I like doing work on my own car, but some stuff is impossible to get at without a lift.
