Well, finally after much contemplation, worries and investigation on the forum I decided to bite the bullet and bought the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's for my 2000 vert', stock size. They look way narrower than the stock Goodyears!! I understand the Goodyears are a "squarer" tire but still. I'm thinking about taking them back as I have not used them and moving up in size. All I have read said I won't be dissapointed with the performance. Am I being crazy,or what? If not...suggestions to sizes and such please.
Sorry but, I have no personal experience with the PS2s. I know a few people here have had experience with them so hoepfully they will chime in. I have read a few tire manufacturers actual sizes differs, though not sure how one 275 can be skinnier than another 275.

275 is tread. While that should be the same for all brands. Some have different section widths so they would in fact look different although contact patch width would be the same.

The section width on the PS2 is actually bigger 10.9 vs 10.8.This size you will never feel. The PS2 is a far more superior tire then you had and anything in its class. Your new tire will be quieter, and more refined.
555R2's are not drags but still until he explains if the car is a daily driver ,weekend only, never in rain everyones tire choices are their own. If you drive the car all year round everyday a Nitto 555r11 is not a good chice. He picked a great tire already.

The width does vary between manufactures/brands. You'd think a 275 would be the same no matter who made it but it's not so. I replaced Dunlaps with Falkens and the Falkens were just under a inch wider then the better Dunlaps. Go figure.

You're the one that has to be happy - so if you're not, take them back. I ran a set of PS2s on my car for about a year and they were pretty good. If you want something else, the Goodyear GS-D3s have gotten good reviews here.
