Default wheel hop

I've got a 2001 TR z06 with new firestone wideovals on them. The tires have maybe 4000 miles on them. My car wheels hops terribly...from a high first gear roll matting it, the car will spin nicely into second but from a slow roll or from a dig and dumpin the clutch it wheel hops terribly. I've read that once you replace the run flats it decreases the wheel hop a good bit which im going to try soon but if it doesnt whats a good approach to take from there

I'm running the same tire for 2 years and never experienced that problem. under the conditions described. The only time I can honestly say that I've had wheel hop has been at the race track on the 1-2 shift if I powershift..

I get a little wheel hop with my Nitto drag radials on the street sometimes, but nothing like you are describing. How many miles on the car? Are the shocks original?

the car has 15000 miles on it and the tire were put on in january. As far as shocks im almost certain that they're stock. What kind of air pressure are you guys running. Im stuck between the KDW's and T1R's and hoping that these will help out a bit. Lets put it this way...if i were to go to the track and try to heat these tires up just a tad it would never happen....even does it in the rain from a stop

I keep 30 psi in my rear tires for street driving. At the strip I drop them down to about 15 psi. Never had a wheel hop problem at the track though. The Nittos really hook and go.

I believe your problems may be elsewhere. I been dragging with my tires for 2 years and do burnouts every single time and have never experienced what your describing. I run 32 psi for normal driving and 24 at the track with 2nd gear burnouts

I've even cut 1.8 60 foot times with them and have about half life of thread leaft.. I would check other suspension components as well.. These tires are not the beast, but they are definitely not as bad as your describing them. Hell, I ran 11's with them..

I have the Toyo Proxes T1R on mine and have never had wheel hop. Never launched from a standstill but I have hammered it from a slow roll in 1st and stayed on it through 3rd. This is my daily driver and we just had 3 straight rain days and these tires really do good in the wet. They really seem to be a good all around tire. I have seen other threads on this subject. You might do a search. Good luck.

I have been running the Firestone WOs for 4 years and have never had them wheel hop even in the wet. They are my wet condition autocross tire as well as my street tire.

My experience with wheel hop is when I have done multiple starts with run flats in the rain (WOs are not run flats) and as the tires got hot with some steam coming off from them they started wheel hopping very badly.
