Ok, so I have been looking into the HID plug n play world. Obviously there is enough info on the forum for me to go nuts on everyone's different opinions. Anyhow, I remember seeing a clear headlight lens as a replacement for the stock. 1) does anyone know where to find this lens (i searched with no luck) 2. Will this enhance the HID's output? Or could it cause problems for other drivers? glare? I just dont like the look of the stock lens. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks all
Actually those are ACA full headlight assembly replacements with built in HID projectors and ballasts.
The OEM "lens" cannot be replaced unless you were to actually saw off the front of the headlight capsule and replace the original lens with clear lexan.
This is a tedious process that bothe Radioflyer and I have both done in the past......I would not recommend trying this.
And no, I doubt it would improve your HID pattern.
interesting.... alright well i guess i will go the cheap route for now and pick up some plug n plays and call it a day...As long as I can see at night!
CIBIE ~ Ask for Gunther 562-699-8887... This company imports the 'Clear Glass Euro Headlights' directly from Germany. I'm rocking those with 8000 HID's and trust me you will be able to see at night!

I dont have the link but you can look up the site on the web.. Its Aardvark International or something. If you call the number I provided Gunther can take care of you for sure. The cost for the lenses alone is about 89.99 each.. So 180 for both and then you purchase your HID kit...

thanks for all the helpful input. I was looking for the clear lens simply for looks, not light output. Although I was curious if output would be affected. I think the clear lens just gives a more modern look (i realize it probably doesnt matter at all when the lights are on anyway). Anyhow, i may end up going this route and I'll keep you all posted. thanks again for all the helpful info

In that case. It is possible to make your own: (estimated cost: $35-40 plus the huevos to cut up your OEM headlights)
1) use a dremel to cutaway the OEM lens (as seen in my first pic)
2) use a sanding station to ensure the edges of the remaining part of the lens is flat and even
3) make a template from the rest of the lens. Use this template to cut
a sheet of 1/4" lexan to the shape of your lens.
4) For added "coolness" bevel the edges of the lexan piece, then use a butane or propane torch to heat up the sanded section to the point where it just begins to melt. This will give you a super-smooth glass-like edge
5) (this is the part I was never able to do) Find an ultra-high-strength clear adhesive to secure the lexan piece to the lens. Let dry then re-install.
The Euro lens looks smaller than the OEM. Does it fit perfectly in the stock opening? I'm thinking about going with these and halogen bulbs.
Thanks
They're the same size, the Euro was sitting at a different angle. I'm actually planning on selling this set. It comes with the relay harness and PIAA 130W halogen bulbs (the next best thing to HID)
